“Green Flag/Red Flag” Spoiler Free Movie Review: No Hard Feelings

Hello! Welcome back to Burk Report. I really love movies. Ill rank my favorites in a different post. I will start doing movie/TV reviews on here when I see a movie in theaters, a streamer, or catch one I haven’t seen on TNT, FX, or HBO. I’ll give good things (Green Flags) about the film, bad things (Red Flags) and Ill give you a final recommendation on how you should watch this.

Green Flag #1

Jennifer Lawrence.

She was awesome in this comedic role. She brought some deep emotion when the scene called for it, yet her timing on her jokes was incredible. I bought her character and that says a lot in a comedy. Normally in the modern day raunchy comedy, there isn’t many redeeming qualities for a character, they are normally pretty scummy. You could see the layers in Maddie. She has some scumbag moments, but you can see she is good at her core. Jennifer Lawrence needs to do more movies in the future. She is still a star in the industry. I am now convinced she can do it all from genre films, Oscar type films, and now comedy!

Green Flag 2:

Andrew Barth Feldman

The former “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” guest star was terrific. He held his own in battling wits with Jennifer Lawrence. His performance as shy “Percy” was very believable. He really does’nt have much history in acting for the silver screen. He was mostly a stage actor on Broadway style productions. This could be a breakthrough for Feldman. I never saw an actor that took me out of the story. He captured the “awkward teen” thing well and Percy’s growth was great to see.

Green Flag 3:

Comedy

Yes comedy was a green flag. It’s been rough out there for comedies to shine on the silver screen. The last good comedy I may have seen in theaters was “Good boys” who’s director was the same one who made “No Hard Feelings”. Comedy is hard now with different tastes, risk factors, and comedy TV has been so good. I liked seeing a studio take a chance with this. You also had a megastar buy into the process fully. Please Hollywood, dont just put lame comedies on Peacock, Paramount +, and more. This is a case that comedy can work with a big bucket of popcorn in a theater on a Friday night.

Green Flag #4:

The length

This movie’s runtime clocks in at an hour and forty three minutes. I admit, I love a good long Oscar piece or a 3 hour superhero feature, but it was nice to see a movie at 7:40 PM and walk out before 10 PM. It honestly felt like a throwback.

Red Flag #1

There was a character that just didn’t lead to anywhere. I think once you watch the movie you’ll agree with me. It happens in a lot of films, so its more of a beige flag for me.

Where should I see this film?

Please see it in the theaters. This is the type of “B Film” that doesn’t get placed in theaters anymore. You will have some laughs, you will have some fun. Its not gonna win any awards, but this is Summer movie time at its finest.
