Im sorry Kris Bryant, St. Louis aint boring

Kris,

I loved what you did for the Cubs in your tenure with the organization. The hope you gave Cubs fans like myself when you crushing minor league pitching. The amazing rookie season where you led the offense to the NLCS. Then the 2016 MVP season where you and the Cubs won the World Series. Just incredible stuff KB.

Here is what I have an issue with, you called St. Louis “Boring” in 2019. I know it was a while ago, but it still has gotten to me all this time. After a fabulous weekend in the city, it was time to write about it.

I know the big rival at the time resided in that city. I get it, you played to your base. It was the amazing political thing to do. Kris, you are just plain wrong on this one.

The City of St. Louis is vibrant, eclectic, and trendy. It offers something for people of all ages, genders and income status.

Lets start out with the food. There is more than just Imo’s Pizza. Yes, the cracker style pizza is very divisive but again you don’t have to get that when you visit the city just off the Mississippi River. There is amazing BBQ with Salt and Smoke, some amazing Mexican food with a twist with a place like “Taco Circus”. Oh and if you just want a big ole piece of meat, let me introduce you to the 30 oz. pork steak from Butcher Beast and Block. If you want a ton of variety all in one space, check out City Foundry, where you can some chicken and waffles, toasted ravs, cheesecake, Mexican fusion, Asian cuisine, and tons more in this food hall with restaurants trying to make themselves known to possibly get enough income to get a brick and mortar location.

Kris, tell your teammates that do drink, that there is so much more to St. Louis than Ballpark Village when it comes to finding the perfect beer, or mix drink. St. Louis has come to find itself as a “hoppin” beer capital of the Midwest. When Anheuser- Busch got bought by InBev, many brewmakers took their expertise with them and opened their own spots around the city and selling their beer to numerous restaurants across the region. Schlafly, Urban Chestnut, 4 hands, Morgan Street, The Civil Life, Trailhead, the list goes on. Your buddies will find the right beer for their mood and taste. Your teammates will find spots to dance, converse, or just belly up to the bar and watch a game.

I know you are a family man Kris. There are so many attractions for your family to take part in. We all know about the Arch, and you can see the stunning cityscape of the city. If your kids, are like any other kids, they love animals. St. Louis has some of the most premier locations to see both land and aquatic animals. The St. Louis Zoo is free and offers 655(!) animals for all to see. The Christmas light show is incredible as well at the zoo. The new St. Louis aquarium is stunning. Located in the family friendly Union Station area, is the perfect place to get your sea fix. They have large touch pools, interactive exhibits, and a behind the scenes tour! Sticking with Union Station, your family can ride the scenic ferris wheel to see atop the city and the Mississippi River. If you want to relax, the Tower Grove South Park is there for you. With ample space for kids to run around its amazing. If your wife wants fresh produce, the Tower Grove Farmers market is probably the best a city can offer. With a ton of local farmers and vendors its a must stop for your veggies and meats. I haven’t even mentioned the shows at various venues or the botanical gardens. The attractions St. Louis has to offer are just endless.

St. Louis is a city where you can get the wildest you want, or the most chill you want. There is no direction you can go wrong. So Kris, you may want to interact with a city and talk with the people more before you judge it by its cover.
